MEET OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Chanetta Yancey

Chanetta Yancey, a native of Canton, is the new executive director of the Canton Calvary Mission at 1345 Gibbs Ave. NE.

 

She succeeds Marie Senften-Dietz, who retired after 14 years.

Yancey has an extensive background working with youth in leadership roles. She started her involvement in community programs at 13. 

She started a Christian organization in her local high school, leading it for three years. During high school, she also was active in promoting the National Day of Prayer.

She works with the youth department in her church and is the youth liturgical dance director.

In 2013, Yancey was inducted into the Academy of Young Preachers Class of 2013.

For the last two years, she has worked for Tiqvah Hands of Hope as a team leader and then site director. As site director, she worked with children of trauma, leading group activities, managing chapel time, working with church partners, and was the connection between the parents and the school district.

 

Her previous experience includes working for the American Red Cross; wedding and event planning; human resources coordinator; and a self-employed insurance agent. She attended Cleveland State University for social work.

Yancey, raised by a single mother, said her goal is helping families and strengthening the community.

She and her husband, Charles Yancey II, have two sons, Charles III, born in July 2020 and Christopher her bonus son.
